Our goal is to meet your care needs when they occur, a Care Coordinator will complete an assessment and create an individualized Care Plan and have your care up and running quickly, often the same day if necessary.

What services do you provide?
We provide a wide range of services from housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care, respite, errand running, medication monitoring to caring with those with dementia or palliative care.
What hours are you available?
We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year including holidays.
What area do you cover?
We service Windsor to Digby and surrounding areas
Do I have to enter a long-term contract?
No, Annapolis Valley Home Care will not ask you to enter a long-term contract, you can cancel care within 24 hours notices if you choose.
What about pets?
We welcome all pets that are well behaved and are happy to assist you with pet care as we know they are a special part of your family.
Are your Caregivers insured and bonded?
All our Caregivers are insured and bonded with our insurance company.
What is the free in-home consultation like?
When you call for a free in-home consultation, we will send a Care Coordinator to your home to meet you (and family members if you wish to include). She will answer all your questions and if you decide to move forward with care will complete an assessment to ensure she has all the information required to set up care smoothly and in a timely manner. You are under no obligation and will not be pressured, you let us know when and if you choose to book care.
How do you decide what Caregivers to send to our home and how many will I see?
After meeting you, we will look at your individualized care plan and match a caregiver(s) up that can best meet the needs. We will ensure that we choose caregivers that are a good match to your personality and preferred lifestyle. We know the importance to continuity so will ensure that we keep the same faces in your home for your peace of mind and comfort.
Do the Caregivers have their own transportation?
Yes, our Caregivers have their own transportation and are licensed and insured to help you shop or attend important activities and appointments. Your monthly bill will include a portion of their mileage if booking this service. If you have your own vehicle the Caregiver can drive your car with your permission if you prefer with no additional charges.
Can you run errands for me?
Yes, we can run errands for you or accompany you whichever you prefer and in the Caregivers vehicle or your personal vehicle.
How do you screen your Caregivers?
Our highly skilled, reliable Caregivers are chosen through an in-depth, one on one interview process. Each applicant must pass an RCMP Criminal Record Check as well as personal and professional reference checks prior to joining our team. Caregivers also must be certified in First Aid and WHMIS.
Can family members be included in the process?
Absolutely! We welcome family members and appreciate their concerns and input. After setting up care with your permission, we offer a “Family Room” option so that family members close to home or miles away can be involved daily if necessary.
Are you person focused?
Yes, we are very person focused, our goal is to complete tasks but also show care for you personally every visit with a healthy holistic approach.
Are your Caregivers trained?
Annapolis Valley is proud to offer an entire level of our facility to training and development for our Caregivers, we are fully equipped with a classroom, personal care room, bathroom and kitchen with all necessary training tools. We offer ongoing training to all our Caregivers in classroom and one on one.
We have two qualified facilitators for Alzheimer’s and Dementia and Palliative Care certified programs that we teach in house, as well as a Registered Holistic Nutritional Consultant on staff for dietary needs.
Are you community-focused?
We are very community focused and continue to be involved and support services throughout the Annapolis Valley.
Policy, Payment & Procedures
Absolutely! We take confidentiality very seriously and have policies in place to protect your private information. We only share information with the necessary staff to provide care, not with those that do not need to know. All your information, files, care plans are securely stored in our office in a locked filing system.
Yes, we have extensive policy and procedures in place to protect you and our Caregivers.
We are accredited with Accreditation Canada and follow all their specified regulations. In 2017, we received our Full Accreditation with the highest of standing – Exemplary.

We bill on a monthly basis; invoices are sent out the first of each month for the previous month following the month in which service was provided.
Annapolis Valley Home Care presently accept cash, cheque and electronic funds transfer. Payments can be dropped off at our office or sent via mail with a cheque, which ever option is convenient for you.
We offer direct billing to Insurance Companies and are approved Veteran Affairs (DVA) and Workers Compensation Board Providers.
Annapolis Valley Home Care is a private home care agency that is non-government funded. We work very closely with publicly funded programs and can provide services for individuals that feel their needs are not met solely with publicly funded programs. We believe strongly in collaboration and working together in our communities to enable you or loved ones to remain living safely and independently in your how home.
We are not a franchise and are a privately owned, family base company. We appreciate all our business and support as it goes right back into our local communities we service.
